• Lay out what you think you need, then take half
  • Layer for plane trips
  • Take good walking shoes
  • Pack enough in your carry-on to get you through if your luggage doesn't show up
  • Roll your clothes
  • Keep your meds with you at all times. Pack extra to cover travel delays or unplanned detours
  • Use zip-top bags to separate and compress types of clothing
  • Seal your cosmetics and lotions in a zip-top bag before packing
  • Use two smaller suitcases rather than one large one due to the airline weight restrictions; doing this will also help you in case one gets lost
  • Pack clothing you can mix and match, using two main colors (purple and red, of course)
  • Pack things inside other things (stuff undies or socks into shoes)
  • Check with your hotel to see if hair dryers are provided; if yes, leave yours at home
  • Separate delicate items with tissue paper.
  • Pack a laundry bag for dirty clothes
  • Take a travel umbrella
  • Pack a flashlight
  • Pack a travel candle or air freshener for that not-so-fresh room
  • Pack underwear, and throw it away after every use so you have room for your new stuff
  • Pack way ahead of time, then take out what you realize you won't need
  • Pack your suitcase, then place it inside another suitcase if you are a shopper and buy souvenirs
  • Wrap breakable items between clothing
  • Never check your laptop, digital camera, medicine, jewelry or traveler's checks
  • Pack less and do more laundry
  • Don't forget to take a wig if you wear wigs
  • Write down your contact information and phone numbers; do not store them in your phone
  • Bring snacks
  • Start out with no carry-on and pack a tote in your suitcase
  • Follow the traveler's code; one to wear, one to wash
  • Take an eyeglass repair kit and a little sewing kit. You may also want to take a copy of your eyeglasses prescription.
  • Think disposable
  • Tie a bright ribbon or large colorful luggage tag on your suitcase so you can easily identify it on the baggage carousel
  • Pack each outfit complete with accessories in a zip-top bag to make things easy to find
  • Pack your suitcase and carry it to the car. If you can't carry it, it's too heavy. Repack.
  • Pack nylon underwear. It dries quickly.
  • Keep a list of your medication names, dosages, and doctors' names available.
  • Keep a "wrinkles free" spray
  • Always put a large piece of paper with your name, address, cell phone number and destination in each checked bag. If it gets lost, your luggage just might find you.
  • Bring one red hat and headband or feathers to change your look
