Crowned with great dignity in glorious recognition of true royalty!Queen Wise-owl, Barb Young, received the royal treatment during her recent coronation by her chapter (Gippsland Girls, Victoria, Australia). Here she is, waving ever-so-graciously, her train carried behind her by minions, with bubbles wafting through the air.
Queen Cathy Rickel (Rickel’s Red Hatters & Wannabees,- Clearwater, Florida) shares that her coronation was spiced up by a surprise appearance by the Esteemed Vice Mother, Linda Murphy. Linda, who lives nearby, was delighted to place the crown on the Queen’s hat.
Ladies in red! It’s nice to see lots of RHS chapters climbing on the bandwagon (in their red and purple heels, tennies, or clogs) in support of the American Heart Association’s mission to acquaint women with the symptoms of heart disease. The Ruby Darlin’s (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) had a great time at the women’s health fair and luncheon at Marymount Hospital in Cleveland, where they underwent tests for cholesterol, blood sugar, lung capacity and stress. Oh yes – they also enjoyed a great lunch. And many made a commitment to themselves - to actively improve their health habits.
And, while we’re on the subject of ladies in red, here’s a photo of Queen Tillie Foster (Daring Dollies of Baja, Mexico) with Lady Bug and EQM at the AHA luncheon in Irvine, California. Voting Red Hatters put Tillie over the top; she won the “Go Red for Women” contest sponsored by “Orange Coast” magazine.
GREEN for a day? Declaring herself “Permanent Queen for the Day,” Miss Etta Mauldin (The Big D Re-gals – Dallas, Texas) plans her chapter’s St. Patrick’s Day outing every year – always in a different pub. This year, Etta’s hat sported a leprechaun on top, and her earrings were huge shamrocks. Want to bet that Etta is a “wee bit Irish” herself?
Noted and Notorious Women Nicely Noticed Queen Melody Montgomery (Purple Passion People – Danbury, Conntecticut) tells us that about 500 RHS ladies showed up to enjoy a New York Historical Society Public Historian’s talk, entitled “Noted and Notorious Women of the 19th Century” on International Women’s Day. Looks like they enjoyed it (and maybe got a few ideas)?
Horsing Around – in a big way! There is always something new and interesting to do if you look hard enough. As proof, the Glitzy Gals (Ocala, Florida) enjoyed a sunny day and a visit to the New England Shire Horse Farm. Queen Mary Curry says that these huge horses are “very personable and friendly” – and they adore carrots!
